Book Review: Faceless

Hey,
So here we are again, another book has been finished. This book is definitely a eye-opener. You all should know this by now, but if your new here the name of the book is the title of the blog post. The books name is Faceless. This book is written by a woman called Alyssa Sheinmel.
If you are new here, let me start this part by saying. Welcome to my blogs. This is the part of the blog, where I write about the author of the book I'm reviewing. So here is a bit about the author. Alyssa Sheinmel has written many books which are Second Star, The Beautiful Between, The Lucky Kind and The Stone Girl. After reading this book I may end up reading one of these. Alyssa grew up in Northern California and New York. But she currently lives and writes in New York U.S.A If you use social media you can follow Alyssa on Twitter at @AlyssaSheinmel.
Now you have read something about the author. Let me tell you a bit about the book Faceless. I'm going to take some of the blurb, also known as the bit from the back cover and put it into this blog review. Here we go "Maisie is burnt in a terrible accident, her face is partially destroyed. She's lucky enough to get a face transplant." I'm not going to say any more as I don't want to spoil the story. But some of you might have already read the book. So you may know what happens to Maisie.
My Opinion of this book, it's so good that I hardly can put it into words for you to read. From the moment I opened this book I knew it was going to be good. It got so good that I didn't want to put it down, I needed to finish it. So I could tell more people about it. I hardly put it down. I also liked the way Alyssa and her team structured the book Faceless as many authors just make one long structured book and you don't know where you are or what day you are on with this you definitely can. I also enjoyed how Alyssa based the majority of the book on the theme "LUCK." Because many people don't realise what they have until it has gone. The characters were also very well written as whenever they were written about you could always imagine what they sound and looked like inside your head.
Overall this book does deserves the 10/10 or even the five stars that I'm going to give it. I think the story might be based on a true story which makes it more thrilling. I would recommend this to the older teens and up as there are many strong words put in throughout the book and younger readers shouldn't be reading that kind of thing. If you enjoyed reading this blog post on this book. Then you can find and read my other blogs at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.com. If you have any questions please feel free to leave them in the comment box below. I will try my best to answer them. Thank you so much for reading these posts.
Until my next book review x

Book Review: Déjà Dead

Hey,
So we meet again. I've finished yet again another book. From reading the title you can already guess the name of the book. So of course the book I'm reviewing is going to be Déjà Dead by Kathy Reichs. If you haven't read my other blog about Kathy Reichs book, you know that there is going to be a lot of these.
If you haven't read the other blog let me tell you a bit about the author Kathy Reichs. This book Déja Dead catapulted her to fame, as it became a New York Times bestseller and won the 1997 Ellis Award for best first novel. Kathy Reichs is one of only eighty-two forensic anthropologists ever certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology. Kathy Reichs is a native of Chicago, where she received her Ph.D at Northwestern. She now spends most of her time between Charlotte, NC and Montreal, Québec which is located in United States of America and Canada.
If this is your first time ever reading a Kathy Reichs blog, let me share with you some of the background story of the book. Some people may just read the blurb. Which is where this next part is coming from. Here we go "Dr Temperance Brennan, Director of forensic Anthropology for the province of Québec, has been researching recent disappearances in the city. Soon she is convinced that a serial killer is at work" If those couple of sentences don't grab you, I don't know what will.
My overall opinion of these Kathy Reichs books is that Kathy is a excellent writer as many of her books have won numerous awards. This book is one of those books you can't put down, you just have to keep reading as you want to know what happens. Not just in the end but on every page I read. The storyline also kept you engaged. Kathy Reichs may be a forensic anthropologist as she uses many of the big words that they use in their line of work. But she also does her best in explaining what they mean. Which many readers will like as they want to learn this information. This won't be the last Kathy Reichs book I read.
So I would give this book a solid 10/10. If you like adventure and crime fiction this is the book or books for you. I would recommend this book to the older readers. As there are many strong words and references, that younger readers wouldn't understand. If you would like to read my other blogs they can be found at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.com Any questions or recommendations please leave them in the comment box below. Thank you for reading thes blogs.
 Until my next review x

Book Review: Book Of Lies

Hey,
A new review, another book has been finished. Thankfully it has been really sunny. So I had a excuse to sit outside and read. Book Of Lies is this weeks book that is under review. Book Of Lies is written by Teri Terry. What a great author she is.
Teri Terry is really good at what she does and that is writing if you hadn't guessed. Let me give you some information about the author Teri Terry. Teri Terry has lived in  numerous amount of places including France, Canada, Australia and she currently lives in Buckinghamshire Chilterns that is located in England in the UK. For those of you who don't know. Teri Terry has also had many careers including Scientist, Lawyer and Optometrist. The author Teri Terry has won twelve awards. Awards like Leeds Book Award, The North East Teen Book Award and the Rotherham Children's Book Award (twice).
So now you know more about the author Teri Terry. Let me tell you more about the book by sharing some of the blurb with you readers. "Quinn and Piper are twins, but they've never met. A tragic event brings them together, and draws them into a family curse that stretches across centuries". But it's not all as it seems as "lies become truth and truth looks likes lies, who can you believe?" If that doesn't draw you in, I don't know what will.
Before I give you my final opinion of Teri Terry's other books like the SLATED trilogy or even Mind Games. You need to read them. So like all the other Teri Terry books I have read, this one was just as great as the others. This is a book that I needed to keep reading and I couldn't put it down as I needed to know what happened on each page. As the plot of the story progressed it got more creepy. The twin part just reminded me of a favourite film "The Parent Trap" but with a darker twist, which made this book more interesting, especially with the amount of plot twists. The way that Teri Terry writes about each twin Piper and Quinn also makes the book very addicting. I think where the book ended, it has plenty of room for there too be a second book even more. I can't wait for what Teri Terry writes next.
Finally I would recommend this book to everyone, even if you haven't read the other Teri Terry's books. This book was so good that I would give it a solid 10/10. It is even suitable for the younger reader. Especially if you like mystery and adventure. You can find all my other reviews at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.com if you have any questions please leave them in the comment box below or even recommendations of other books you want me to read. Again thank you for reading these posts.
 Until my next review x

Book Review: Speaking In Bones

Hey,
What's a better way to finish the week by finishing a book and writing about it. So this review is all about the book Speaking In Bones as you can tell by reading the title. Speaking In Bones is written by Kathy Reichs. Let me tell you this won't be the only review of a Kathy Reichs book as I love her books.
So Kathy Reichs lives in the United States of America ( U.S.A) Where she divides her time between Charlotte North Carolina, Montreal and Québec to be exact. Kathy Reichs is a a professor in the Anthropology Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Seventeen books that Kathy Reichs has written are featured on Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling lists. They feature forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. Kathy Reichs also is a forensic anthropologist so she is able to base her books on similar cases she has once dealt with.
Now you know a bit more about the author, Kathy Reichs. Let me share more information about the book with you. (This review is part of the Temperance Brennan series but not in the right order) Here we go, a bit from the blurb. Dr Tempe Brennan is approached by amateur detective Hazel Strike. This woman claims that she's matched unidentified set of remains with a name. A terrified young woman echoes around her office from a audio recorder found near where the bones were discovered. As Tempe investigates further she finds out that this case is more horrifying than she first thought.
My overall opinion of this book is the same as all the Kathy Reichs books I have read. I loved it, in other words I couldn't put it down I had to keep reading, as I needed to know what was going to happen next. The way Kathy Reichs writes her books she supplies you with a lot of information. Some pieces of information you would never know. As she is a forensic anthropologist she uses many of the big words that anthropologists use, which takes time to get used to and to also understand. But she does her best to explain them in the book. Kathy Reichs is also great in writing characters and how she fits them into any story.
To finish off this book review I would give this book a good recommendation to all readers that love a good read. Especially if that includes crime fiction. It was so good that I would give this book a solid 10/10. But this book may be unsuitable for younger readers so only read it if your 18 and above. You can find all my other reviews at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.co.uk or just leave a question in the comments below. Thanks for reading.

 Until my next review x
