This review is a little later, than I expected. For that I'm sorry. Welcome back to a new blog post by me. Instead of writing out the questions from my last blog post again. Can all you lovely readers, please go and read them and leave some answers in the comment box below. It would make me happy. I would really appreciate it. Anyway back to this book blog post. This review is all about The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson.
I'm going to change this blog post a little. By putting the bit about the story first and then I will introduce the author after this piece. Let me know if you like this change and whether or not, I should do more of them in the future. So here is a bit of the blurb, that can be found at the back of all books. If your interested in knowing that. "When his flight gets delayed Ted Severson meets Lily, a magnetic stranger, in the airport bar." "In the netherworld of international travel and too many martinis, he confesses his darkest secrets, about his wife's infidelity and how he wishes her dead." "Without missing a beat she offers to help him carry out the task..." I think that is the perfect amount for you the reader to read. If that doesn't make you go out and buy the book I don't know what will.
Know it's time to introduce you, the readers to the talented author who wrote this book. I totally get if you don't want to read this part of the blog and you skip straight to part with my opinion. Here we go, anyway Peter Swanson is the author of three novels: The Girl With a Clock For a Heart, this book which is a LA Times Book Award finalist. This book The Kind Worth Killing is the winner of the New England Society book Award and finalist for the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger; and his most recent, Her Every Fear. His books have been translated into 30 languages, and his stories, poetry, and features have appeared in The Atlantic Monthly, The Guardin and Yankee Magazine just to name a few. Peter Swanson is a graduate of Trinity College, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and Emerson College. He lives in Somerville, Massachusetts with his wife and cat.
The past couple of books I've read recently were all really good. But I think this one has just pushed passed all of these and has come out on top. I'm going to start with the front cover. Whenever I walked past this book when it was on the bookshelf it always made me pick it up and turn it over so I could read the blurb. The large writing and the dark silhouettes of the two people is the reason of how I got into the book. From that moment I was hooked and I couldn't put it down. Each page my imagination was developing further. This book is the perfect thriller it has more twists and turns than a roller coaster at a theme park. It also made me like plot twists, as it had me turning each page faster. The development of all the characters is well written, especially the two main female characters Miranda and Lily my perception of these two women kept changing as I got further into the book. The pace of the story was out of this world. As I got to the end of the book I didn't want it too end. I especially didn't expect the cliffhanger at the end. I just hope there is another book to follow this one. If all of his books are like this I can't wait to find more and read them.
I would totally recommend this book to anyone 18 and above as there are many strong scenes and strong language throughout. Overall I would give this book a 10/10 or five stars.
