Book Review: Little Girl Gone

Hey,
Well here we are again. The winter has definitely arrived. That means that the cosy nights in with a new book have also arrived and I love that! I'm going to ask one simple question. Anybody actually enjoy reading these blogs? Because I enjoy making them and that's all that matters. Anyway enough about me, How are you lot? I know that are many bugs (it's a term used for illnesses) out there. So stay inside in the warm and drink plenty of liquids. Back to this review, this one is all about Little Girl Gone written by Alexandra Burt.
Welcome to all of my new readers. Also too all my frequent readers thank you for your continued support. Also thank you for choosing to read my blogs it means a lot. I really do appreciate it. This part of my blog, is the background of the story. I take this part from the blurb which can be found on the back of the book. It is also what many people read before they buy a book. Sorry just one more question I promise. Do you prefer to read the blurb or when people use their memory in a book review? Anyway back to the blurb. "A baby goes missing goes missing. But does her mother want her back?" "When Estelle's baby daughter is taken from her cot, she doesn't report her missing. Days later, Estelle is found in a wrecked car with a wound to the head and no memory." "Estelle knows she holds the key to what happened that night- but what she doesn't know is whether she was responsible..." The ending of the blurb just makes you want to do the whole dun dun da!! thing. Anyway I think that's the perfect amount, so it makes you hungry for more. If you do read it remember no spoilers for other readers.
This part of my blog, is where I mention the great and talented author who wrote the book. I still don't believe that many people read this part of my blog and they just skip straight to the opinion part. It's okay go ahead if your not interested I give you my permission to skip it! But for those who are new around here or if you do actually enjoy this part of my blog. Here we go, here is that information. Alexandra was born in Germany. After her college graduation she moved to Texas and, while pursuing literary translations, she decided to tell her own stories. After three years of writing classes her short fiction appeared in Freedom Fiction Journal, All Things Girl, MUSED Literary Review, and Heater Crime Fiction Magazine. Alexandra is a member of Sisters In Crime, an organisation promoting the advancement, recognition and professional development of women crime writers. She lives in Texas with her husband, her daughter and two Labradors. Little Girl Gone is her first novel. This brings me on to the next part of my blog.
It is now time to give my opinion on this great book. Where do I start. I guess the beginning is a good place right? From the moment I read the first couple of pages I was hooked. I couldn't put the book down I was so gripped. I don't think I left the book for more than a hour, when I had to go somewhere. I also thought the book was carefully planned out so you could follow the story more easily. The end of each page made you want to read the next page even quicker than the last one. But halfway through the book I took a disinterest to the book. It just felt like the story was not going anywhere. But that didn't put me off or make me stop reading the book altogether. When the story got back on track I finished it within the next three days, as I wanted to find out what was going to happen to the characters. I also didn't want the book to finish. It was definitely full of twists and suspense. Perfect for a crime fiction novel. The characters were also well written and you were able to understand everything that was wrote about them. I was so gripped, I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. Congratulations on your first book Alexandra Burt!!
Overall, I give this book a 8/10. I also recommend this book to people who love a good crime fiction novel and to people who are 16 and over. Book Review: After You

Hey,
So it turns out I'm getting this reading quicker thing mastered now. No really the clocks went back a hour, so therefore it is getting a lot darker quicker where I'm from that's the winter for you. So I don't go out as much, so staying in under a warm blanket and reading is the only answer too that. WOW! I said "so" too many times then. HA! Anyway welcome back to book blog posts! This review is all about, After You written by JoJo Moyes.
Here is a little welcome to all the new readers of my blog out there. If this is the first blog of mine your reading then Thank You! It means a lot to me. This part of my blog post is all about the background of the book. Which I take from the blurb, which can normally be found on the back cover of the book but sometimes it can also be found on inside cover on a hard cover book. Here we go then, " Lou Clark has lots of questions. Like how it is she's ended up working in an airport bar, spending every shift watching other people jet off to new places. Or why the flat she's owned for a year still doesn't feel like home." "Whether her close-knit family can forgive her for what she did eighteen months ago. And will she ever get over the love of her life. What Lou does know for certain is that something has to change." "Then, one night, it does. But does the stranger on her doorstep hold the answers Lou is searching for - or just more questions? Close the door and life continues: simple, ordered, safe. Open it and she risks everything. But Lou once made a promise to live. And if she's going to keep it, she has to invite them in..." A ending that's a definite page turner for you reading this. But not not too much to spoil it.
So readers I think you know what is coming next. If your new around here, this is the part where I introduce the lovely author who has spent so much of their creative energy and time to meet deadlines to you guys the readers through the power of blog posts! I know some of the readers will be like "not again!" They mostly skip this part of the blog. It's okay I give them my permission for that to happen. So here is that lovely piece of information for you readers, JoJo Moyes is a novelist and a journalist. She worked at the Independent for ten years before leaving to write full time. Her previous novels have all been critically acclaimed and include Me Before You, The Girl You Left Behind and the Sunday Times number 1 bestseller The One Plus One. Me Befor You has sold over 5 million copies worldwide and went to the top of the charts in nine countries, including Germany where it held the number 1 slot for forty-six weeks. She is one of the few to have to had three novels on the New York Times bestseller list at the same time. JoJo Moyes lives in Essex, UK with her husband and their three children.
I mean where do I start with my opinion! It was one of those books when, you picked it up you knew you were going to enjoy reading it. I definitely had to read this one because I also read the first one before even watching the film adaptation. Once I started to read it I was instantly glad that Lou was still the main character and it was carrying on with her story. I couldn't put the book down. When I finally who the stranger was, who was mentioned in the blurb it was like everything clicked into place. I was happy with the way the story was progressing. I was reading each page quicker than the last. But I also felt regret because I was reading it too quick and I didn't want the story too end. I'm glad that all the issues got solved especially the main one, as it seems to be happening a lot recently. Again this book pulled on some of the heart strings. So just like the last book I hope this book gets turned into a film as well. I can definitely see why it was in the bestselling list. Fingers cross for another book! JoJo Moyes, you are killing it!!
I totally recommend this book to the readers of 16 and above. Or to anyone that loves a good read. I'm giving this book a 10/10. There was nothing wrong with it! Just the way I like it. You can read my other blogs, follow me or leave your comments and questions at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.com I look forward to hearing from you. Again THANK YOU for reading my blog posts!
Until my next book review x

Book Review: Devil Bones

Hey,
Here we are again. So a brand new month brings a brand new book and review. This review is a bit later than I expected it too be. By the way, I hope everyone is happy and healthy as there are a lot of germs going around this time of the year. Anyone got any good plans coming up over the next couple or even over Christmas? Right, back to this blog post. This review is all about, Devil Bones which is written by Kathy Reichs.
If your new around here, then welcome to my book blog. Let me tell you a bit about why I like to write thes blogs, I've always liked reading, you could call me a massive bookworm. But when you find out that not many young people are reDing enough it hurts. So my aim is too spread the books I read so that they reach other people. I hope these people will then pick up more books and spend less time on their phones. I want the younger generation to start reading again.
Next in my book blog post is to tell you a bit more about the book because how would you know if you like the sound of it. My information is taken from the back of the book also known as the blurb. Well here you go, "An underground chamber is exposed in a seedy, dilapidated house. In the the dark cellar, a ritualistic display is revealed: a human skull rests on a cauldron, surrounded by slain chickens and bizarre figurines." "Called to the scene is forensic anthropologist, Dr Temperance Brennan. She determines that the skull is that of a young, female. But how and when did she die? Just as Tempe is closing in on answers, another body is discovered: a headless corpse carved with Satanic symbols." "As local vigilantes begin a witch-hunt, Tempe struggles to contain her emotions. But the eventual truth proves more shocking than even she could have imagined." Sorry that's all you getting, remember no spoilers. I just hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I'm sorry to say. but the boring part of my blog is next. Time to introduce the author of this book, to you the lovely readers of this book. I know some of you skip this part. That's fine I give you my permission to do that. But by all means if you do enjoy this part of the blog post. Then carry on reading it. Anyway here is that vital information that you want. Kathy Reichs has many to her name including Bones of the Lost, Bones are Forever and 206 Bones. Kathy Reichs is one of only eighty-two forensic anthropologists ever certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology. Kathy Reichs is a native of Chicago, where she received her Ph.D. Kathy now spends most of her time between Charlotte, North Carolina and Montreal, Québec.
Some of you may be thinking, How come you picked this book to read? Well I have read many other Kathy Reichs books in the past so I thought I may as well give this one a go. But I wasn't too sure at first about the mention of Devils, witch hunts and Satanic Symbols. But it wasn't that bad. At first I found myself putting the book down for a few hours or sometimes I forgot I was reading it altogether. But after some important answers got revealed. I couldn't put the book down. I was reading each page as fast as my eyes would let me. As I wanted to solve the mystery just as quick as the characters in the book were trying too. What I love about Kathy Reichs books is that she uses all the terms a forensic anthropologist should use which means you are learning new words but she also fully explains what they mean to the reader just in case they don't understand. In the end, I wasn't expecting the ending that I read. I can't wait to read more of her books.
Overall, I would give this book a 8/10. I would totally recommend this book to the audience of 18 and above, also to anyone who loves a good crime fiction novel in that age range. If you wish to follow me, leave questions for me or read my other blogs you can find them here laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.com Thank you for reading these blog posts and your continued support.
Until my next book review x
