Book Review: The Black Sheep

Hey,
Another book has been read, so that means that another review is about to be written. Welcome back to my blog posts. If you a reader who has read the majority of my blog posts. Thank you, I really do appreciate your contined support on these blog posts! I'm truly grateful. I think I'm on a role at the moment, my past three blog posts have all been just over a week apart. Just a couple of questions for my readers first, How are you? What types of books do you enjoy reading? Finally, What is your preferred length of a review? If you could answer these questions by leaving all your answers in the comment box below. It could help to make improvements to the blog in the future. Anyway back to this blog post. This blog post is about The Black Sheep it was wrote by the amazing Sophie McKenzie.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome any new readers to my blog posts you picked a great review to start on. This part of my blog post is all about the blurb. The blurb can be found at the back of each book. I like to put this part into my blog posts as it gives the reader a chance to read the background of the story before they go out and buy it. Please let me know if you enjoy this part of blog. Leave your thoughts in the comment section below. So without further delay, here is the blurb: "Francesca was a widowed a year ago. Since then she has focused on her children, trying to soothe their grief as well as her own. Her husband and father never quite saw eye to eye but no one could have cared more for her in the past year than her close-knit family. Finally, she feels she might be ready to move with life." "Until she is contacted out of the blue by someone who says he must get information to her. That her husband's death wasn't what it seemed. And that her family know more than they say..." If you enjoyed it please go out and buy it. You will not regret it. Some people may prefer to look at a picture of the blurb instead of reading it from my blog post. That picture can be found at the end of this paragraph. Remember, if you are a person who already has finished reading this book, then please don't give any spoilers. Nobody likes that, don't skip to the ending when you are reading it either.

The next part of my blog post is all about the author. I like to dedicate this part to the authors as many people just think of them as the person who wrote the book and nothing else. Let's just think about how many hours they have spent on this book, especially on editing alone. That's without coming up with the idea in the first place. I know it would take me a long time to come up with an idea. I just don't know how they do it. So here is the background on them for our benefit. Sophie Mckenzie is the author of best-selling crime novels Close My Eyes, Trust in Me and Here we Lie as well as over twenty books for children and teenagers including the multi-award winning Girl, Missing and Split Second series. She has twice been longlisted for the Prestigious Carnegie Medal. She lives in London UK. You can find Sophie online at www.sophiemckenziebooks.com
The time has come to give my opinion on this book. A good place to start is the front cover. Even though I never judge a book by its cover. The cover definitely give a eerie feeling with how black it is with one glowing window behind it. The cover was not the only reason why I picked this book up. I have enjoyed reading Sophie McKenzie's books since I was a teenager. I have the majority of her books including a lot of the series. I have loved everyone of them. In fact I can't wait for her next one to come out. Next the structure of the book was well thought out and it was easy to keep track of where you were in the story where ever you were in the book. The characters were also well written and you could easily follow their own stories with every page I turned. This book was an amazing read as I picked it up last week and read it within the week. I hardly put the book down. As I got to the end of each page, I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next to my favourite characters. I loved how mysterious with each page turn the book got. Once I found out who committed the crime I wasn't expecting it to be that person at all. When I got to the end I was sad that it was over, I didn't want it to end. As most people tell me not to read things too fast because I would be disappointed when it was over. But I get too excited for a good book. Overall I really loved this book and I can't wait for her next book to come out and for the books that she is going to write in the future. In which she has no idea about yet! Another great book, Sophie!!!
I am going to give this book a sold 10/10. I fully recommend this book to anyone 16 and over and loves a good crime fiction novel. Book Review: The Drowning Lesson

Hey,
So here we again. Welcome back another one of my book blog posts. How are you? How's your weekend going? I read it his book rather fast, so that's why you are getting this review quicker than the ones before it. I also like the fact that it is still winter, it gives me a lot excuse to stay inside and read all the books that I possibly can! What are you guys currently reading? Anyway back to this review. This review blog post is all about, if you can't guess from the title: The Drowning Lesson written by Jane Shemilt.
Like all my other blog posts, I take this time or opportunity to welcome any new new readers too my blog posts. I want to mix up my blog posts from time to time. So this time I'm going to put the part about the author first this time because if you have the same thing again and again it can become boring and I don't want that. But not only that I don't want reading to be associated with being boring either. I put this part into my blogs as I like to get to know each author better as they have spent so many hours writing these books for our entertainment! So here we go. While working as a G.P ( A doctor) Jane Shemilt completed a post- graduate diploma in creative writing at Bristol University and went on to study for the MA in creative writing at Bath Spa, gaining both with distinction. She was shortlisted for the Janklow and Nesbit award and the Lucy Cavendish fiction prize for Daughter, her first novel. Daughter was a Sunday Times bestseller and was selected for the autumn 2014 Richard and Judy Book Club as well as winning the public vote for Best Read. It was 2014's bestselling fiction debut. She and her husband, a professor of Neurosurgery, have five children and live in Bristol, England (UK).
This next part of my book blog post is taken from the blurb that can be found at the back of each book in other words the big paragraph of words on the back. I put this into my blog posts, as it gives each person who wants to buy this book a chance to read the blurb. Here we go: " our home is a crime scene now. I am in yesterday's clothes. The clothes in which I kissed Sam goodbye. Then he'd belonged only to us. Now his image will be shared with the world. We should be grateful. "Our son...Sam... My eyes fill with tears, the writing on the paper blurs. Someone took him. Please help us... I back away from the microphone, the paper falls from my hands." The Anniversary "The Jordan family thought they would return from their gap year abroad enriched, better people, a closer family. Not minus one child. A year on, Emma remains haunted by the image of that empty cot, thousands of miles away, the chasm between her and the rest of the family growing with each day that Sam remains missing. Is her son still out there? Will the mystery about what happened that night ever be unravelled?"  To anyone who has already read this book. You may not be reading this blog post but if you have read to this part, remember don't go giving any spoilers to those who haven't read it yet. Some people prefer to look at a picture. So here is a picture of the back of the book as well.

I hope your enjoying this blog post so far. It is now time for my opinion. Where do I start... I guess the first thing is the is the book cover it just gives off a eerie feeling with the droplets falling down and the empty paper boat. By just looking at it I knew I had to read it. When I read the first chapter, it felt out of place. But once I kept on reading it made perfect sense. I loved how each page kept you guessing on what was going to happen on the next page. I just couldn't put the book down, as I was enjoying it that much. In fact the only time I put it down was when I went to sleep. I also loved how each chapter went from the present to the future. It just kept me, the reader on my toes. Especially as I'm loving crime fiction at the moment. It was full of suspense. If you have read this one, you have too read the first one as well. Tell you one thing I did not expect was the ending. When I found out who the person who committed the crime was I actually took in a big gasp of air. I throughly enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait to see what she writes in the future.
I would give this book a solid 10/10. I recommend this book to people who are 16 and over and love a mystery/crime fiction book. Book Review: Oh Dear Silvia

Hey,
Welcome back readers to another one of my book reviews. How is everyone doing? First let me apologise for how long you had to wait for this blog post to be released. I haven't had a lot of time to do some reading as January is a busy month for me. So therefore this review got pushed back and got delayed. Anyway have you read any good books recently? Let me know your recommendations in the comment box below and maybe I will read them some day. For now back to this review, this review is all about: Oh Dear Silvia and it was wrote by Dawn French
I would just like to take this opportunity to welcome any new readers to my blog posts. Thank you for choosing to read these blog posts! That goes to all my readers. This section is all about the author of the book. Also to get to know them a bit better than you did before. For an instant many people from around the world may not know who Dawn French is, but here in the UK she is definitely known all over the country. So here is that information. If you do not want to read this park, then just go ahead to the next section of this blog post! Dawn French had been making people laugh for thirty years. On purpose. As a writer, comedian and actor, she has appeared in some of this country's (UK) most long-running, cherished and celebrated shows, including French and Saunders, The Comic Strip presents..., Murder Most Horrid, The Vicar of Dibley, Jam And Jerusalam, Lark Rise to Candleford and more recently, Roger and Val Have Just Got In. Her number-one bestselling memoir, Dear Fatty, was published to critical acclaim in 2008. A Tiny Bit Marvellous, her first novel, was a great success, going straight to number one and selling over half a million copies. This book, Oh Dear Silvia is her second novel.
I have to say this next section is one of my fave parts to have in my blog posts. This section is all about the story. This is the part where I take the background of the book and put it into my blog posts. To make you, the reader the need to go out and buy this book. The part that I'm going to write in this blog post is taken from the back of each book also known as the blurb to other readers. So here we go: "Silvia Shute lies in a hospital bed. Family and friends are at her side, each thinking they know the real Silvia. But do they? For Silvia hides a secret. And her visitors gather, so the truth about her is slowly revealed," See not so much this time. I hate giving away any spoilers to readers. But if you have read this book, remember no spoilers for those that haven't. Some people may prefer to look at a picture of the back of book, so here is that picture:

I hope your enjoying this blog post so far. It is now the time to give my opinion of the book. Once I read the back cover for the first time I knew I had to read it. As I wanted to know what the secret was so badly. But as soon as I picked it up and started to read it I couldn't put it back down again. I got to the end of each page just wondering what was going to happen next. I loved how the book just flowed and you knew which character you were reading about. I really enjoyed the dark and humorous bits of this book. If you know who Dawn French is you may of read the story with her voice in your head. I just love how good a writer Dawn French is. I loved this book so much that I read this book within a week. Another thing about this book is that the size of the chapters are not too long and they are not too short. Which kept my attention for long enough before I got bored. Overall Dawn French another great book and I can't wait to see what you write in the future!!
Overall I would give this book a 9/10. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves a good mystery and over the age of 16. If you wish to read all my other blogs you can find them at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.com You can also leave questions, comments or even follow me at the same place as above.
