Book Review: GIRLHOOD

Hey,
It's me I'm back again. Told you lot to expect more reviews from me. I'm guessing you were not expecting another one this fast. Well when I get into a really good book it can take me a matter of days to finish it. Well three days to be exact. But that was also down to the fact that we have been receiving some glorious weather which can put me into one of the best moods ever. Therefore I read faster as I'm in the best mood ever. Which results in you lot the readers, getting more reviews. I know I'm saying this every time but no one is helping me that much. Please could you readers give me some sort of feedback in the comment section below. It doesn't have to be really long, it can be a couple of sentences just about the blog. For an example I don't know whether my over seas readers can read my blog posts in their preferred language, tell me if it all makes sense. I would really appreciate it. I hope you enjoy reading this blog post just as much as I enjoyed reading this book my opinion about the book will come towards the end of this blog post. So this review, if you haven't already read the title it's all about Girlhood and it was written by Cat Clarke.
Like all my other blog posts, it's a moment of thanks. Welcome to any new readers to these blog posts. Thank you for choosing to read my blog posts, after reading this one if you wish to read some of my other blog posts. You can find them at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.co.uk To all the other readers who keep coming back to every new review I write. Thank you for your support, I really do appreciate it, it really means a lot to me.
The next part of this blog post is all about the blurb on the book. When I tell most people about the blurb, they stop me speaking and ask me what exactly is the blurb. So I will define it in another way for you. The blurb is a small passage that describes the book really well. You can find the blurb at the back cover or if your reading a hat covered book it can normally be found on the inside of the front cover. Now here comes the reason why I put the blurb into my blog posts. Like I said earlier the blurb describe it perfectly. Therefore you lot, the readers can make your judgement about the book here and now. Otherwise you would have to go out and find the book and then read it that's if you don't have Internet access. I can save you from all of that right here. It's how most people get addicted to many books is by reading the blurb. With this book there isn't much of a blurb on the book itself. So what I'm going to do is put the one from the book and one from the Internet into this blog post. So here we go this is the blurb from the book:
" I lost myself when my sister died, and these girls rebuilt me, piece by piece. I thought that nothing could ever come between us. I thought I knew who I was... Until the new girl showed up."
If you wanted more information this is the one from the Internet:
" Harper has tried to forget the past and fit in at expensive boarding school Duncraggan Academy. Her new group of friends are tight; the kind of girls who Harper knows have her back. But Harper can't escape the guilt of her twins sister's Jenna's death, and her own part in it - and she knows no one else will ever really understand. But new girl Kirsty seems to get Harper in ways she never expected. She has lost a sister too. Harper finally feels secure. She finally feels...loved. As if she can grow beyond the person she was when Jenna died. Then Kirsty's behaviour becomes more erratic. Why is her life a perfect mirror of Harper's closeness with Kirsty begins to threaten her other relationships, and her own sense of identity. How can Harper get back to the person she wants to be, and to the girls who mea the most to her?
Readers, if you prefer to look at a picture instead there will be a picture of the blurb at the end of this paragraph. Also remember if you have already finished this book please don't give any spoilers to those who haven't yet.

The next part of my blog post is all about the author of each book I review. I like to put something about each author into my reviews because it makes me feel good and at least I have something dedicated to them. Next time you read a book just think about the author who has spent many hours locked away in an office or shutting off from their families or pets. Just think about the endless amount of emails, phone calls and meetings with their management teams/publishers. But in the end of it, it will be all worth it as they have something to be proud of and it is something they can show off to everybody for many years to come. Just think about it if authors decided hey didn't want to spend all that time away that would result in no books being made which won't make us bookworms around the world not very happy. So without further delay here I am introducing to you Cat Clarke. Cat Clarke is the bestselling award - winning and highly acclaimed author of six YA novels. Cat Clarke was born in Zambia and brought up in Edinburgh and Yorkshire, which has given her an accent that tends to confuse people. She lives in Edinburgh with her partner, two ninja cats and two decidedly non-ninja cocker spaniels. Right into my next bit.
Now the time has come to deliver my verdict as some people might call it. Others might call it the opinion part of my blog post. So where do I start... I shall start at the beginning it's a very good place to start. I shall stop there with the sound of music quotes. HA! Anyway I love all of Cat Clarkes previous books I have read pretty much all of them. So I have had this date for release of this book in my diary for a long time. I was so excited when it finally got released I couldn't wait to get my hands on it especially as I know what her other books are like. From the moment I picked up this book I was gripped. I couldn't put the book down, I completely blocked out my family for the last three days and the weather also helped as I was able to sit outside and relax in the sunshine and enjoy a really good book. This book was jammed packed with many things I was not expecting, like the many twists. Don't worry I won't give it away for you, you will have to read it for yourself to find out about them. I loved everything about this book so I don't have any bad things to say about this book. I also loved the way she wrote about the characters, it's good to have a bit of diversity in books as there's not a lot of that about. It was amazing storyline. But once I got to the end I was sad to see that it was over. I wanted it to be twice as long than it really was. This book even made me laugh out loud and even shed a tear all based on their friendship. I hope there is another book to follow on from this one following the group of girls. Cat Clarke bring on the next book I can't wait to see what you write in the future and I can't wait to read it *high five* Cat it was truly a awesome book!!
I would like to give this book a solid 10/10. I'm going to recommend this book to anyone who is a teen fiction lover and is over the age of 16. If you wish to read any of my other blog posts you can find them at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.co.uk where you can follow me, leave me your comments or leave your recommendations for me for the future. Thank you again for your continued support. It really means a lot. I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and I hope you come back for more in the future.

Until my next book review x

Book Review: Disclaimer

Hey,
I'm back again with another review. I know most people struggle with the introductions. They find it quite hard to come up with something different each time. It's totally the same for me. I struggle to come up with different content each time I start a new blog, sometimes I just ramble my way through it, okay most of the time. In this review I will give you a run down of this book and my opinion will come at the end. That's if you stick around that long or you may just skip the blog post and head straight to the opinion part at the end. It has been a very sad week where I'm from. My thoughts go to all the families who have lost their loved ones this week. Again in this review I hope readers of these blogs would give me some sort of feedback, without sounding too repetitive for my readers it will be very much needed as I could improve my posts with that feedback. I will tell you one thing that I'm loving this week is the really sunny weather we are having, so expect more reviews coming soon. I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I enjoyed reading this book. So without further delay this book I'm reviewing is called Disclaimer and it was written by Renee Knight.
I would like to take this opportunity in blog post to welcome any new readers that choose to read this blog post but if you wanted to read more you can find them at laurennpullenreviews.blogspot.co.uk  Also to my older readers who are loyal and continue to return to read my posts. Thank you everyone it totally means a lot to me.
This part of my blog post is all about the blurb of the book. You can find most blurbs at the back of each book. But if you are reading a hard back covered book you can find the blurb on the inside of the front cover. For readers that don't understand the word blurb I will define it in another way. The blurb is a small passage describing each book. Now it's time to tell you why I put the blurb into my blog posts. I put the blurb into posts because it describes the book perfectly and the reader can then understand the book better. It saves you from going out and trying to find the book when you can just read the blurb here right now. You can make your judgment about the book right now. It is how most people buy their books is by reading the blurb. It's also how I get addicted/hooked to any book. So here we go here is the blurb of this book: "When an intriguing novel appears on Catherine's bedside table, she curls up and begins to read. But as she turns the pages, she is horrified to realize she is a key character, a main player. This story will reveal her darkest secret. A secret she thought no one else knew... ". Readers. If you prefer to look at a picture and read the blurb for yourself there will be a picture at the end of this passage. Also remember readers if you have read the book and you are reading this review please don't give away any spoilers to those who haven't yet finished the book yet.

This next part of my review is all about the author of each book I read. This time it is all about Renee Knight. By writing about the author in each of my reviews it helps me to have something dedicated to the author. Next time your reading a book, think about the author. Just think about how many hours they lock themselves away in an office away from their loved ones. Just think about the amount of phone calls they have taken, also just think about how many edits, meetings and emails they have answered. But in the end it is definitely all worth it as they have a physical object that they can show and hold for the rest of their lives. They have something to be proud of. Can you imagine if they decided they didn't want to spend all that time away from their families. All of their talent would be wasted and there won't be any amazing books to read. Which would not make us bookworms that happy at all. So here we go, introducing Renee Knight. Renee Knight worked for the BBC directing arts documentaries before beginning her writing career. She has written television and film scripts for the BBC, Channel Four and Capital Films. Her first screenplay, Morher's Day, made it onto the 2010 Brit List of best unproduced scripts of that year. Her first novel, Disclaimer (this book), was published by Transworld in 2015. Renée lives in London UK with her husband and their two children.
The time has come to deliver my opinion on this book. New book, clean slate in other words I was keeping my mind open and not about to compare it to any other book I had previously read. When I first saw this book I picked it instantly and read the back to discover that the book was going to be like the film Inception. But instead it was a book inside a book not a dream inside a dream. Once I finally got to reading the book it gripped me and I was completely hooked about the many secrets that was hiding inside this book. I found myself not putting the book and shutting out what was happening around me. I totally lost all track of time while I was reading this book. But there was a this one time where I had to stop reading for a couple of days as things for pretty busy and I didn't have enough time in the day to read as often as I've would of wanted. When I returned to the book, the book wasn't the same it was like it has lost its spark. I got confused more easily I ended up re reading many sentences. Also I couldn't keep track of whose part I was reading so I had to keep on referring to the beginning of each chapter and sometimes that didn't help. So maybe a thing to improve on, make it more clearer to the reader whose point of view the chapter belongs to. So maybe add a small subtitle at the beginning of them. But I stick the book out as I can never leave a book unfinished especially a crime fiction book. So as soon as the plot thickend I got back into the story and it revealed the many twists and turns that I was not expecting and the book needed them so much. It definitely made me turn the pages so much faster resulting in me me finishing the book within the next three days. Like I said earlier I wasn't expecting the twists and turns so the ending of this book totally blew my mind, don't worry I won't give it away. But wow, I wasn't expecting it too be turned around just like that. I also wish that the last chapter was a tiny bit different. In the end it was a crime fiction book that I throughly enjoyed reading. But if you are a older reader and thinking about sharing it make sure you share it with more older members of your family as there are many strong scenes in the book and very strong language within the book. Renee this book was a awesome book and I can't wait to see and read what you come up with next!!
I would like to give this book a 8/10. I would also like to recommend this book to anyone who loves a really good crime fiction book and you are over the age of 18. Like I said before you can find all my other blog posts at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.co.uk where you can follow me or leave your recommendations for me. Thank you again, for your continued support. It totally means the world to me. I hope you return the next time I upload my next review!

Until my next book review x

Book Review: Into The Water

Hey,
Time for another blog post. As I have yet again I've finished another book. It was a great one if I do say so, but more of that later on in my opinion section. That's if you stick around that long but thank you if you do. Without sounding too repetitive I would love all my viewers to give me some sort of feedback in the comment section below and again I will thank you all. Now time for some questions, well simple questions like how was your week? How are you doing? Have you anything good planned for the week? One more thing before I carry on with the review. It's that time of the year again, so I would like to send good luck to any of my viewers who are sitting/taking their exams, you can do it. It will definitely all be worth it in the end. Anyway back to this blog post, if you have read the title of this review you may already know the name of this book. But if you haven't this review is all about Into The Water and it was written by Paula Hawkins.
Like all my other blog posts, I just take this time to welcome any new readers and thank them for choosing to read my blog posts. It really means a lot to me to have their support and to all my older readers thank you for returning to read every new blog post that I upload. I tend to follow the same structure for each blog post. For those who are new around here  and didn't know. The next part of my blog post is all about the blurb. For people who don't understand the word blurb I will try to describe it in a different way. The blurb is the small passage that can summarise what the book is all about. How about that, better? Now here is a little bit, about why I put the blurb into all of my blog posts. I put the blurb into my reviews because it gives you the reader a better understanding of the book. By reading the blurb in my review it saves you from going out and then reading the blurb. What happens if the book is not your cup of tea. I can save you from all of that right now. By putting this blurb here right now you can make this decision instantly. I used the word 'right' so many times in the last couple of sentences. Wow! Most people can get addicted/hooked to any book by reading the blurb. That's what normally happens to me. The blurb can be found on the back cover of most books. But when your reading a hard cover book like this one. You can easily find the blurb on the inside of the front cover. So without further delay here is the blurb from this book: "In the last day before her death, Nel Abbott called her sister. Jules didn't pick up the phone, ignoring her plea for help. Now Nel is dead. They say she jumped. And Jules has been dragged back to the one place she hoped she had escaped for good, to care for the teenage girl her sister left behind. But Jules is afraid. So afraid. Of her long-buried memories, of the old Mill House, of knowing that Nel would never have jumped. And most of all she's afraid of the water, and the place they call the Drowning Pool..." Readers, if you have read this book and your reading this review because your waiting for my opinion. Please don't spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet. Also for people who take things in better by looking at a picture. A picture of the blurb can be found at the end of this passage.

This next part of my blog post is all about the author of each book I review. This time it is all about Paula Hawkins. I like to dedicate something to them. After all just think about how many days they sit away from their families in an office answering the many emails and the amount of edits they have to make. Let's not forget the amount of phone calls and meetings they have to go through. But in the end it is definitely all worth it as they have something they can be proud of. Something they can show off to everyone. A book that will be around for a long time. In the end that pressure will disappear until they decide to write another book. By dedicating this passage to them I feel I'm giving something back to them. Can you imagine a world without books, it's a reality that us bookworms don't want. So without further delay here I am introducing to you Paula Hawkins. Paula Hawkins worked as a journalist for fifteen years before turning her hand to fiction. She is the author of The Girl on the Train and Into The Water (the book I'm reviewing). An international #1 bestseller, The Girl on the Train was published in 50 countries and over 40 languages. It has sold over 18 million copies worldwide and has been adapted into a major motion picture. Paula Hawkins was born in Zimbabwe and now lives in London UK.
It is now time to give my opinion. So the bit you've all been waiting for has finally arrived. I've had the due date for when the book was going to be released written down for a while, because I just loved the other book so much. When the book finally came out and I got my hands on a copy. My first thought was I hope this book is just as good as the last one. Don't ask me why I thought that . I can't give you an answer to that one. In other words I wish I didn't think that because it's totally a different book and should not be compared to any other books that Paula Hawkins writes. From the moment that I read the first couple of pages I knew it was going to be a really good book. I found myself reading it at any opportunity I could get. In other words I was totally hooked from the get go. I hardly put the book down. This book definitely made you you think, especially what it was like for women back in the day. This book was jammed packed with twists and turns which kept me the reader and many readers to come in full suspension. The only thing I sometimes got confused with is who's chapter I was on. So I had to keep on referring to the beginning of each chapter to see what the name it was. But in the end I got used to it and it was really needed in the book to get the different points of view across. All of the book was written beautifully. It was so easy to follow the storyline. I was not expecting it to be who it was at the end, don't worry no spoilers here. I finished this book within a week of starting it and I loved every moment of it. I can't wait to see what Paula writes next and in the future and I can't wait to read it. I just hope this one gets made into a movie as well. *high five* Paula, it was a awesome book.
Overall I would definitely give this book a 10/10 and would love to recommend this book to anyone who loves a really good book and is over the age of 16. You can find all my other blog posts at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.co.uk where you can follow me or leave me some questions of you want. Thank you for your continued support. It totally means a lot. I hope you come back for more of my blog posts in the future!!

Until my next book review x

Book Review: The Bones Of You

Hey,
So I'm back again. *Wave* One question does anybody else find introductions hard to do? I just find it hard to start each blog post differently each time. I hope your enjoying my blog posts, please let me know so I can receive more feedback. Therefore I can improve my blog posts. Which will make it better for your viewing. Anyway how has your week been? Mines been a bit better than the last time I wrote to you, the readers. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I have. But you will have to wait for my opinion, you can find it later on in this blog. It is so much better when I can read outside and it's so sunny it puts me in a really good mood which results in any book being read quicker. If you haven't read any of my blog posts before you may be wondering why I write these blog posts. I write these blog posts because I have a big passion for all things books. I thought why not share with other people what I thought about each book. So I created the blog which is going to improve my writing skills therefore it helps if I wanted to become a author myself one day. Back to the book itself this review is all about: The Bones Of You which is written by Debbie Howells.
At this point in my blog I wish to welcome any new readers to these blog posts! Thank you for choosing to read my blog posts and to all my older readers thank you for your continued support. It really means a lot to have your support. This next part of my blog is all about the blurb of the book. The blurb on most books can be found on the back of each book. Sometimes people use the word synopsis for people who don't know what that word means, it means a small summary or passage describing the contents of an object like a book. I hope people actually find it more relevant that I put the blurb into my blog posts I think that it is really needed in a blog post as it gives a better understanding on which book is being reviewed. It can also make the reader of this blog post understand what the book is like, therefore they can make their first opinion about the book. Without the blurb in my blog post you won't know what the story is like. It will also make you decide if you want to go out and buy the book. When I read the blurb, its how I immediately get addicted and hooked to any book unless the book I'm reading is part of a dried then I definitely have to read the next book. So without further delay here is the blurb of this book: "A community in shock. When eighteen year old Rosie Anderson disappears, life in the idyllic village where she grew up is never the same again. A family torn apart. Rosie was beautiful, kind and gentle. She came from a loving family and had her whole life ahead of her. Who could possibly want to harm her? And why? A keeper of secrets Kate is a friend of the family, and she's certain someone in the village knows more than they're letting on. As the investigation deepens, so does Kate's obsession with solving the mystery of what happened to Rosie." Readers, if you prefer too look at a picture of the blurb instead. You can find it at the end of this paragraph. If you have read this book, you may not be reading this review but remember nobody likes spoilers so please don't give any away this those who haven't read/finished this book yet.

This next paragraph is dedicated to each author of every book I review. I like to dedicate each author this paragraph as they spend so many days shut away in an office from their loved ones. Just think about how many hours they have sat in front of a computer screen reading emails, editing/re-editing pages of their books and the endless meetings they have with their book management teams. But in the end it is worth it. As they get something they can hold and show it off to everybody and the pressure has gone. Hard work does pay off. So it feels like I'm giving something back to them, by dedicating this passage to them. Can you imagine a world without authors there won't be any books to read, it's a reality us bookworms don't want to imagine. After writing all that I just know some people will get bored of my rambling and just skip this part and move on to my opinion. So here we go, introducing Debbie Howells. Debbie Howells lives in West Sussex (UK) with her family. Having worked as a cabin crew and a flying instructor, she spent several years running a very successful wedding flower business. She started writing as an escape from a busy summer of weddings. Her first books This Your Life and The Impossible Search for the Perfect Man were written under the pen name Susie Martyn and self-published as eBooks on Amazon. Encouraged by positive feedback, Debbie used her love of flowers and first hand experience to write the contemporary women's fiction novel Wildflowers, the first book published under her own name. She started writing her first psychological thriller, this book, The Bones of You. Debbie is now represented by United Talent Agency. The Bones of You was published in July 2015 and her second book was published in 2016.
The time has come to deliver my verdict or my opinion as some people like to call it. Where do I start? Let's start at the beginning. When I read the first part, about Rosie it triggered my imagination off. Starting a new book, it's like exploring a whole new world. But once I finished reading Rosie's part I couldn't wait to see what the rest of the book is going to be like. But the next part left me feeling a bit disappointed because it didn't take off. It just left me feeling a bit flat and I got bored which lead me to stop reading it. But when I start a book I can't just leave it halfway through and pick up another book. So I picked it back up and carried on reading it. As soon as I got to the halfway point of the book, it's like the book changed. It suddenly had a change of pace. I found myself reading the book for most of the day and I started to ignore most of my family as I was escaping to a different world. I found myself not putting the book down as often as before. Some of the topics that are throughout the book will definitely haunt you leaving a permanent thought in your mind. There are many twists and turns in this thriller. I loved how this book was written it was easy to understand and follow as the book switched back and fo, between the different character chapters in the book. Now that I couldn't put the book down and reading it at a much faster pace people were telling me to slow down. But I needed to know who had done it. It was the last person I thought it was going to be in other words my guess was totally wrong. There was a little bit of regret once I had finished it because I hadn't slowed down. I can't wait to see what she writes in the future and I can't wait too read it.
I would like to give this book a 8/10. I would fully recommend this book to anyone who loves a good crime fiction and is 16 and over. You can find all my other blogs at laurennpullennreviews.blogspot.co.uk where you can follow, leave comments or questions. Thank you again for your continued support and I hope you come back for more blog posts in the future!

Until my next book review x
